The Panchayat and Rural Development Department (P&RD) of Assam government has reported large scale corruption and many officers and employees have been either discharged or suspended from their posts.
Three engineers have been discharged from their jobs in the Barkhetri Development Block. The three have been identified as Aamanur Rehman, Aatiqur Rehman and Abdul Karim. Further, two temporary employees identified as Matiur Rehman and Surajit Barman, from the Barkhetri Development Block have been suspended from duty.
Corruption was persistent in the implementation of the MGNREGA and PMAY-G schemes.
In the Gauripur Development Block, similar corruption in implementation of the MGNREGA scheme was reported, for which, Kuntala Barman, an engineer has been discharged from duty.
Amarendra Goswami, Assistant Senior Officer of East Nalbari Development Block has also been suspended on corruption charges.
Dhekiajuli Development Sector Secretary, Haldhar Haloi has also been suspended. He had a bad reputation as Secretary of Giya Gabharu Village Panchayat. He has been removed from his post by orders from Bikram Koiri, Panchayat and Rural Development Commissioner.
Another official from State Rural and Livelihood Campaign, Amrit Kumar Bora, was also discharged from his duties on charges of corruption. He was working as Chief Operating Officer.
