Deputy Speaker of Assam Legislative Assembly and BJP MLA from Silchar Dilip Kumar Paul on Tuesday announced his resignation in a post on social media site Facebook.
Paul has cited issues with protocols of the post as the reason behind his resignation. He submitted his resignation letter to CM Sarbananda Sonowal on Tuesday.
Hitendra Nath Goswami, Speaker of Assam Assembly, has confirmed Paul's resignation and said that his office received the resignation letter by 6:00 pm on May 08.
Paul was unanimously elected as the Deputy Speaker of Assam Assembly on June 03, 2016
