Making her state proud again, athlete from Assam Hima Das made it to the semi finals of the women's 400 m on the opening day of the IAAF World U20 Athletics Championships in Finland on Tuesday.
Hima won heat number four and is leading the time charts at 52.25 seconds. She is the U20 season leader in the quartermile event.
It may be mentioned here that if the 18-year old wins gold, she will become the first Indian athlete to do so in a track event in a U20 World Championships.
Another Indian, Jisna Mathew had also qualified for the semi finals by winning the fifth heat in 54.32 seconds.
A team of 31 athletes, led by Hima Das, is representing India at the six-day championship.
