As a stretch of National Highway 37 between Kohra and Bagori comes under water, the Sub-Divisional Administration of Bokakhat Sub-Division has put in place prohibitory orders on the movement of vehicles on the inundated stretch.
In other words, direct communication between Upper Assam and Lower Assam has been snapped. However, certain alternate routes have been highlighted by the notification issued.
People travelling from the Guwahati/Nagaon side towards Bokakhat, Golaghat, or Jorhat may now divert through Borghat (Nagaon-Dhing Charali) via Hojai.
Alternatively, these vehicles may also divert from Kaliabor Tiniali and proceed towards Upper Assam districts like Dibrugarh and Tinsukia via the North Bank districts.
These alternate routes will have to be followed by the people traveling to Upper Assam until further order.
