At a time when a deluge devastates 31 out of 33 districts in the state of Assam, at the same time the flood affected people have lost everything they called their own.
The devastating floods washed away houses, swept away cattle, eroded agricultural land, drowned their loved ones but it is humanity that has brought rays of hope in their lives.
Yes, it is humanity that is bringing everyone together in this hour of need to to stand beside those who have been the victims of this flood fury.
Not only regionally known names but famous names, nationally renowned personalities, organisations came out in aid of these unfortunates. Starting from Bollywood star Akshay Kumar donating Rupees Two crores to Dhing Express Hima Das aiding with half of her month's salary.
However, let me remind you, it is not only the 'well to-do's' or the rich who have come forward in help of the flood affected, but commons such as a daily wage earner have made their contributions towards the greater good.
Some came out in the light with their contributions but some chose to remain unnamed, however, both sections are equally praiseworthy.
Budding cricketer Riyan Parag, Sahitya Akademi Awardee Yeshe Dorjee Thongchi, Assamese actor Jatin Bora and Film-maker Rima Das are among those who have done their share.
India might be divided in religion, languages, castes and class, but just disastrous calamity as this deluge Assam has been reeling under, was enough to bring everyone together. Those who have donated have done their part, I have done mine, have you?
