As expected, post puja Assam is bracing for Assamese- Bengali polarized politics in the coming days as 42 organization jointly called for a 12 hour Assam bandh in protest against the Citizenship Bill.
The call was announced by the Krishak Mukti Sangram Samity (KMSS) – Asom Jatiyadabadi Yuva Chatra Parishad(AJYCP)- All Assam minority Students union (AMMSU) and 39 other organizations.
They were protesting against the BJP's decision to go ahead with the Citizenship Bill. That is also the day when the AGP is holding a massive rally in Guwahati against the Citizenship Rally.
This is noteworthy that Bengali have also come together and holding a separate joint rally in support of the Citizenship bill on November 17 and that is has the direct backing of the citizenship bill.
The BJP set up this new polarization politics as in the recent executive meeting, the party decided to go for the Citizenship Bill. The BJP did want to provoke the majority Assamese by siding with the Bengalis with a clear design. Accordingly the Bengalis have organized their own show of strength to back the party and the Citizenship Bill.
Today's political development has set the ball of Bengali-Assamese polarization in motion and in the next few weeks it would be more intense till an intervention should come from the Chief Ministers to stop the Bengali rally and again dupe the majority of the people.
