Arunachal: Protesters continue to vandalize commercial complexes

The situation in Itanagar and Naharlagun remained unchanged as protesters continued to vandalize commercial complexes and stores in the towns on Monday. Curfew in Itanagar has been extended till Wednesday morning.

In Naharlagun protesters vandalized and looted an arms and ammunition store. Later police detained 7 people including 3 non-Arunachalis in connection with the loot. On the other hand in Itanagar, protesters vandalized and looted jewellery, cloth and mobile stores in the town even on Monday.

Earlier on Sunday, the protesters tried to set ablaze the residence of Deputy CM Chowna Mein and also tried to target residence of Chief Minister Pema Khandu.

The Ministry of Home Affairs has dispatched 10 additional companies of the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) for deployment in law-and-order duties in Itanagar and other violence-hit places.
