MGVK Bhanu urges dedicated candidates to contest Panchayat polls

Congress Candidate for Tezpur parliamentary constituency MGVK Bhanu (retired IAS officer) strongly criticized State PnRD Minister Naba Kumar Doley for running one of the "biggest scams" in the state.

Demanding a CBI enquiry into the scam, Bhanu said that a large section of the candidates, who were close to influential people, or had paid money to get the jobs.

A number of irregularities were detected in the recruitment process of the Panchayat and Rural Development Department (P&RD); this has raised suspicion that majority of the posts were sold for cash and it was alleged that Minister Naba Kumar Doley along with few BJP lawmakers piloted the entire appointment process with ulterior agenda not following the basic principle of merit.

He also added that he is ready to face a lie-detector test over PnRD scam with Naba Doley. It may be mentioned that earlier, MGVK Bhanu was in the charge of  Additional Chief Secretary of P&RD department.

Attacking his opponent Pallab Lochan Das, who is also holding Tea Tribes Welfare Department, Bhanu said that advisory board fixed tea wages for the workers of Assam tea gardens, but workers are still fighting for the Rs 351 a day the minimum wages advisory board for tea workers had proposed.
