Amidthe ongoing protests against the amended citizenship bill, 26 people who wereinjured in police firing have been admitted to Gauhati Medical College andHospital (GMCH) out of which two have already died.

Addressinga press conference, GMCH Superintendent said, "11 people who were injured havebeen released after the initial treatment while three persons who are criticalhave been admitted to ICU."

The Superintendent appealed the protestors not to harm or destroy the vehicles carrying oxygen to the hospital. He said, "People's lives are at risk and therefore I appeal that oxygen-carrying vehicles should not be damaged."

It has been reported that the protestors attacked the oxygen-carrying vehicles. The Superintendent also urged the protestors not to attack the doctors and medical workers as they are the ones who are serving the people.
