In Mizoram, students' organization Mizo Zirlai Pawl (MZP) pushed back about 424 suspected Bangladeshi migrants into Assam during their drive against illegal immigrants.

Reportedly, the people without NRC documents 'pushed back' by the students' body since August 20. The drive has initiated by MZP to check influx of immigrants into the state and set up check points on the Assam- Mizoram border.

"MZP had set up check-gates and stopped migrants from Assam but some of them have already entered Mizoram, before we set up the check-gates" MZP president L Ramdinliana Renthlei said to media.

MZP activists will continue the drive against illegal migrant independently. They are asking travellers to produce Inner Line Permit (ILP) papers and the NRC document at the border.

A large number of Bangladeshi migrants who were left out in the NRC draft are trying to flee to the neighbouring states of Assam MZP activists alleged.

It may be mentioned that Mizoram has ILP (Inner-line permit) system, which is a special permit required by non-tribals to enter Mizoram, Nagaland and Arunachal Pradesh.
