In a bold decision, Government of Assam in its bid to add teeth to the maintenance of authentic land records which is regarded as a key to efficient management of land, has decided to transfer Lot Mandals and Kanongos to transfer across the state.
A review meeting held under the Chairmanship of Chief Minister Sarbanadna Sonowal on the implementation of Brahma Committee Report at Janata Bhawan here today, has decided to ask Director of Land Records to prepare a proposal to be submitted to Revenue and Disaster Management to draft a notification to give shape to transfer of Lot Mandals and Kanongos across the state. The move has been necessitated to facilitate share of knowledge and better management of land records throughout the state. Since, lot Mandals and Kanongos hold the key at the bottom level revenue administration and its efficiency, transparency and accountability the move would help the State government essentially to facilitate transfer of knowledge and authentic land records management.
Science and Technology Minister Keshab Mahanta, Pension and Public Grievances Minister Phani Bhusan Choudhury, Minister of State for Revenue and Disaster Management Bhabesh Kalita, MLA Dibrugarh Prasanta Phukan, Legal Advisor to Chief Minister Santanu Bharali, Additional Chief Secretary, Revenue Kumar Sanjay Krishna, Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister Sanjay Lohiya, senior officers from the Directorate of Land Records were present at the meeting.
