AKRSU’s Assam Bandh Hits Normal Life

The 12-hour Assam bandh called by All Koch Rajbongshi Students' Union (AKRSU) has affected the normal life in several parts of the state.

The AKRSU has called for the shutdown in protest against the updating process of the National Register of Citizens (NRC) saying that lakhs of names of Koch-Rajbongshi have been dropped down from the final list which they won't accept.

The shutdown hits normal life mostly in Morigaon, Nagaon, and Chirang among others. The protestors have followed the bandh by burning tyres in the PWD road connecting Morigaon and Jagiroad. During the protest, protestors also raised slogans against Prateek Hajela.

Moreover, the bandh has also affected normal life in Chirang district and communication of vehicles has been stopped at 31 No National Highway. The business establishments get closed in areas like Kajalgaon, Basugaon, Chidli, Dhaligaon and other parts of the state.
