For the first time in the absence of peasant leader Akhil Gogoi, a traditional Orchid festival will be held at the Kaziranga National Orchid and Biodiversity Park in July.
The Kaziranga National Orchid and Biodiversity Park is located at the distance of 2 km from the Central Range of Kaziranga, Kohora Chariali, and was established by Akhil Gogoi. Amid the outbreak of coronavirus, maintaining the social distancing norms and other regulations, the Orchid festival will be held only in the presence of Orchid Park staff and the local residents on Wednesday, July 1.
Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti (KMSS) has been organising this festival for the last two years with the aim of reviving the existence of the lost Assamese identity and introducing it to the new generation.
KMSS leader Akhi Gogoi is in judicial custody and is placed at Guwahati Central Jail.
