AsomGana Parishad (AGP) president Atul Bora on Wednesday categorically opposed the constructionof 2000 MW Subansiri Lower Dam.
"AGPis not against construction of small dams but the party will oppose any move toconstruct big dams in the region," said Bora in Dhemaji.
However,Bora refrained himself from comment on the agreement signed between governmentand NHPC to implement the Subansiri Project.
It maybe mentioned here that after the National Green Tribunal (NGT) upheld thetechnical committee that was set up by the Centre to review the fundamental ofthe Subansiri Lower Hydroelectric Project (SLHP), the Assam Government on August23 inked a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with NHPC Limited in Guwahati forimplementation of 2000 MW SLHP.
