ADB Approves Rs. 1,650Cr for Tripura Project

The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has approved projects for infrastructure development worth Rs. 1650 crore in seven of the eight districts headquarter towns in Tripura.

In a pressstatement issued by ADB, it said that the Urban Development of Tripuragovernment had submitted the projects' details to the ADB through the CentralGovernment on which the ADB has approved on Sunday.

According tothe statement, 80% of the amount would be given by ADB as grant-in-aid and thatthe Tripura government would have to repay back only 20% loan in due course oftime.

The ADBfunded projects would be executed in the following district headquarters towns-Ambassa (Dhalai district), Dharmnagar (North Tripura), Kailashahar (Unakoti),Udaipur (Gomati), Bishramganj (Sepahijala), Belonia (South Tripura) and Khowai(Khowai).

The release further stated that the Urban Development Department of the Tripura government would start preparing a detailed project report (DPR) with the support of the ADB for speedy execution of the projects. It also mentioned that such ADB-assisted ambitious infrastructure development project, first of its kind in Tripura is expected to modernize all the district headquarters and would boost tourism and trade prospects in future so as to fulfill the dreams of model state of chief minister Biplab Kumar Deb.
