National-award winning director Bhaskar Hazarika's acclaimed and highly anticipated Assamese film 'Aamis'- a story about love, lust, and basic instincts will be released in Assam and selected cities of India on Friday (November 22).
Aamis reflects the downside of repressed love while also giving us a taste of a culture without making it seem exotic or abnormal.
Aamis premiered at the prestigious Tribeca Film Festival in New York earlier this year and was the toast of audiences at the recently concluded 21st Jio MAMI Mumbai Film Festival with Star.
Earlier, renowned Bollywood producer and director Anurag Kashyap did an announcement through his official Instagram handle, and made a video appeal to cinephiles to watch Aamis (The Ravening)- upon its release on November 22, saying "you have not seen anything like 'Aamis' coming out of India."
The film stars debutants Lima Das and Arghadeep Barua, while Neetali Das, Sagar Saurabh, and Manash K Das comprise the supporting cast. Aamis has been produced by Poonam Deol and Shyam Bora, in association with Wishberry Films. This is Bhaskar Hazarika's second film after the National Award winning 'Kothanodi'. This original dark love story is being presented by Anurag Kashyap.
Aamis has received two awards at the recently concluded Singapore South Asian International Film Festival, Best Director for Bhaskar Hazarika and Best Actress for Lima Das.
