90% in Assam Have No Aadhar: Report

According to a report by social impact advisory group Dalberg, a majority of people of Assam and Meghalaya do not have Aadhar card.

The report states that 90 percent of the people in Assam and 61 percent of people in Meghalaya do not possess Aadhar card.

The report also stated that 90 percent of Aadhar card holderswrongly believe that the 12 digit unique identity number is required for bankaccounts.

As per the report, around 77 percent of card-holders are yet to use the digital features of the ID service like mAadhaar, QR code or masked Aadhar and 33 percent of people who tried to update their Aadhar found the process to be difficult.

The Dalberg report also stated that 8 percent of the totalpopulation in the country still does not possess an Aadhar card. It also statedthat there can be a rise in the number of Aadhar users if it improves itson-ground process.
