As India prepares to slowly reactivate the economy and life, it has divided the districts into three-zone and accordingly Assam's districts are also divided in three categories.

RED ZONE – Hotspot and fully sealed

ORANGE ZONE – Marginally opened, no new cases

GREE ZONE – Corona free districts

The Green Zone and Orange zone will have some reactivation from April 20 while the red zone will remain sealed as it is now. The Union Government has issued long list what can be reactivated on April 20.

Here are the zonation of the districts of Assam

The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on Wednesdaylisted 170 districts across the country as COVID-19 hotspots or 'red zone'areas — 123 districts with "large outbreaks", 47 with "clusters".

Another 207 districts have also reported COVID-19 cases, butare not hotspots yet. The number of districts which have reported COVID-19cases has now increased to 377 (170 hotspots, 207 non-hotspots), from 354 onApril 12.

Sixteen states have reported five or more districts: AndhraPradesh (11), Assam (5), Delhi (10), Gujarat (6), Haryana (6), Himachal Pradesh(5), Jammu and Kashmir (8), Karnataka (8), Kerala (7), Madhya Pradesh (6),Maharashtra (14), Punjab (8), Rajasthan (12), Tamil Nadu (22), Telangana (9),and Uttar Pradesh (13).

Of these, six states – Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, UP,Rajasthan, Andhra Pradesh and Delhi – account for almost half of the hotspotdistricts identified for containment.

The list includes Kurnool and Guntur in Andhra Pradesh,Chandigarh, Pathanamthitta and Ernakulam in Kerala, Jammu (J&K), Aurangabad(Maharashtra), Jalandhar (Punjab) and Chengalpattu (Tamil Nadu).

Besides Delhi, the other cities where hotspots have beenlisted include Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Pune, Jaipur, Chennai and Hyderabad.

Ten districts listed as "large outbreaks" had over 100 casesas on April 12. Of these, the districts in Maharashtra saw the highest spike incases between April 6 and 12: Thane (79%), Pune (67%), Mumbai (65%). Jaipur sawa 68% spike in that period.

In 35 districts listed as "large outbreaks", the number ofcases increased by over 50 per cent between April 6 and 12. Seven of these werein Maharashtra, five in Tamil Nadu, four in Rajasthan, and three each inHaryana and Uttar Pradesh.

In the hotspots listed as "clusters", the number of casesranged from two to 14 as on April 12. Of these, 26 districts, including threein Punjab, have seen an over 50 per cent spike.

Sources said these hotspots are unlikely to qualify for thelockdown relaxations announced by the Ministry of Home Affairs, although thefinal decision rests with the states.

The districts where no new cases have been reported in thelast 28 days are being classified as 'green zone' areas.
