However, the fact has been admitted by Tripura Education Minister Ratan Lal Nath and said that it is due to the negligence of the Left Front Government that the most important provision of RTEA was violated and the meritorious poor students could not get entry into the convent schools.

According to the rules of RTEA framed in 2011, the private schools have to allow at least 25 percent of the poor students at entry level residing within one to three kilometers distance from the school. The rules also said that the monthly expenditure of those students would be paid by the state government and later provisioned to get reimbursement from ministry of human resource development (MHRD).

Nath saidthat the then government and its administration did not bother to ensure theadmission of the poor students in posh schools despite the schools know theprovision of the Act. He further stated that neither the schools nor the governmenttook any steps to comply with the provision of RTEA for which the students haveto be deprived of the callous action of the administration and that the presentgovernment has taken it seriously.

The ministeralso pointed out that all the private schools were asked to ensure theadmission of 25 percent of under privileged students from next academic sessionas per the rule and also warned them to be careful about compliance ofdirections of central and state government besides the court orders.
