Guwahati willhost 2020 Khelo India youth games which will attract 10,000 participants fromall over the country and it will be held between January 18-30.
This was todayannounced by Union Sports Minister Khiren Rijiju in a tweet. "I am happy to announce that the 3rdedition of the #KheloIndia Youth Games will be held at Guwahati from January18-30, 2020. The Games will see a participation of more than 10,000 athletesand officials. It will be conducted in partnership with IOA, SGFI & Assamas host State."

Khelo IndiaYouth Games (KIYG), formerly Khelo India School Games (KISG), meaning PlayIndia Youth Games, held annually in January or February, are the national levelmultidisciplinary grassroots games in India held for two categories, namelyunder-17 years school students and under-21 college students. Every year best1000 kids will be given an annual scholarship of INR 5,00,000 for 8 years toprepare them for the international sporting events.
The Training ofTrainers (TOT) Programme will be held in December 2018- January 2019 in thefirst phase. Here total of 160 trainers will be trained in 4 batches of 40 eachin December-January period. This TOT Programme will be carried outsemi-annually or quarterly to include all the interested teachers, principals,vice-principals and physical education trainers.
Small state ofHaryana (102 medals including 38 golds, 26 silvers and 38 bronzes) which isconsidered a sports powerhouse was the top team in 2018, followed byMaharashtra (111 medals including 36 golds) and Delhi (94 medals including 25golds).The Khelo India programme has been introduced torevive the sports culture in India at the grass-root level by building a strongframework for all sports played in our country and establish India as a greatsporting nation.
