The Meghalaya Government is all set to preventJapanese Encephalitis (JE) cases and has sounded a medical alert in view of itsoutbreak in Garo Hills in the state.
Meghalaya Health and Family Welfare Minister,Alexander Laloo Hek said that they have sounded an alert to every citizenparticularly those residing in high risk areas.
Hek further said that things are under control nowand that the state health machinery is doing all that is required to containthe outbreak.
The Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma also held a review meeting earlier on Thursday with health officials, Deputy Commissioner, representatives of different localities from Tura town on the issue.
Deputy Commissioner of West Garo Hills, Ram Singhalso informed that one fogging machine is available and the arrival of threemore is awaited from Shillong.
13 cases of JE have been reported in West Garo Hillson Wednesday and the number has gone up to 15 with most of the cases beingreported from the district headquarter of Tura on Thursday.
