A 12 hour Karbi Anglong bandh has been called by Karbi Students Association (KSA) and six other organization against Finance Minister of Assam Himanta Biswa Sarma's Karbi Anglong visit and the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill 2016 on January 25. The bandh has been called from 5m to 5pm today.
It is to be mentioned that Himanta Biswa Sarma will be inaugurating a park, a statue and two roads in Karbi Anglong today.
Bijoy Bey, president of KSA appealed the people of Karbi Anglong to support to the bandh. Announcing the bandh in a press conference on Thursday, Bey said, "Tomorrow, we seven organisations have called for a bandh and the people muagainst Himanta Biswa Sarma's visit to Karbi Anlong and the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2016.
Bey also said that if the bill is implemented the indigenous people of Assam will will mostly affected though it will be effective all over India.
The other six organisations which are sponsoring the bandh are Karbi Students' Association, Dimasa Students' Union, Karbi Students and Youth Council, HTL, Karbi Students' Union, Karbi National Assembly and Karbi Farmer Association.
