Ugratara looks up to govt for future safety

The representative of 108 shrine's of Assam held a meeting at Ugratara temple on Saturday. The meeting was called after a series of temple loot raised alarms in the state and questions were being raised regarding the securities of the shrines.

The representatives urged the state government to provide securities to the temples and also said a memorandum would be submitted to the Governor Jagdish Mukhi and the Chief Minister of Assam Sarbananda Sonowal.

They also appealed the government to free the temples from encroachment like that of Satra lands.

The investigations of  the decamped idols with the idol, gold jewellery, donation box and few utensils of Ugratara Temple were also discussed at the meeting.

It is to be mentioned that miscreants are now increasingly targeting temples across Assam. After the infamous theft at the Ugratara Temple earlier this month, similar incidents followed suit in the past few days.
