Guwahati Commissioner of Police Deepak Kumar visited Pandu Ghat onFriday morning to inspect the immersion areas.
Visiting the area, the Police Commissioner said that this time 100idols will be immersed in the Pandu Ghat and the puja committees have beeninstructed to finish the immersion by 10 PM.
The CP also said that this time, the police department has deployedadditional police and night patrolling has been increased in the remote areas duringDurga Puja in order to prevent robbery, dacoity, burglary etc.

Kumar also urged the citizens to remain alert during puja to preventany untoward incident.
Moreover, the police commissioner also visited the Puja mandaps andinstructed the committees to take all necessary measures so that no untowardincident could take place during the festival.
He further stated that the puja committees have arranged the puja byfollowing all the rules and regulations given by the district administrationand police department.
The major immersion ghats in the city are Kachomarighat in Fancy Bazaarand Pandu Ghat. The other ghats where immersion will take place are Saukuchi,Chunsali, Noonmati and Basistha.
