Manipur state police forces managed to arrest at least ten Rohingyas, during the last four days, from the Indo-Myanmar border town of Moreh in Tengnoupal district.

SP Vikramjit of Tengnoupal district said that on May 27, following a tip off, state police apprehended four Rohingyas including 2 woman from Tengnoupal check post, for possessing fake Aadhar cards.

Later, follow up operations, led to the arrest of another five other Rohingyas including 3 woman from a hotel based at the border town on May 28, the high ranking officer said.

Meanwhile, investigation revealed that one Tahir Ali, who himself is a Rohingya married to a local Manipuri Muslim woman was involved in arranging the illegal translortation of these foreigners, and has been arrested from Sora locality in Thoubal district.

All the arrested lot exceot for the "mastermind" Tahir Ali had travelled from the state capital town to the border town carrying fake Aadhar cards.

The officer further informed that most of the arrested lot could neither speak Hindi nor English, leading to communication problems though they have been staying in the state for a short period of time.

He further said that some of them were reportedly planning to move to Malaysia, adding investigations are still on.

Ethnic Rohingyas, native to Myanmar, had been fleeing from the South East Asian country to Bangladesh as well as in North East Region including Manipur, following the Myanmarese crackdown on them after Rohingya rebels attacked and killed some Myanmar security forces.
