In a joint operation launched by the Chirang-based Army unit with Assam Police, 210 Cobra Battalion and 6 Bn SSB seized huge cache of arms and ammunition and explosives in Chirang district.
The explosives have been recovered from Chirang Reserve Forest.
During the joint operation, a massive search with metaldetectors continued for 12 days in the forest and a suspected spot was locatedwhere a hidden cache of arms and ammunition was found after the spot was dug bythe Army and police personnel.
The cache includes 3 rifles, 7 pistols, 14 RPG, 192 grenades, and 450 rounds of bullets of AK series along with other ammunitions.
Recovering the arms and ammunition, the police said that efforts are on to maintain peace and tranquility in the region.
