Ferry services plying between the north and south banks of the Brahmaputra River in Guwahati will remain closed on Wednesday, reports emerged.
According to the reports, the decision was taken in view of the immersion of idols following the conclusion of Durga Puja celebrations across the state.
In this regard, the Inland Water Transport Department (IWTA) issued a notification informing about suspension of ferry services between Guwahati and North Guwahati banks.
With several puja organising committees set to carry out their idol immersion programmes today, coupled with the lack of jetties forced the suspension of ferry services.
Also, a decline in the water levels of the Brahmaputra River has caused problems in plying ferries across the river, it has been informed.
