‘The Accidental Prime Minister’ faces backlash in Kolkata, Ludhiana

Based on the memoir by Indian policy analyst Sanjaya Baru, 'The Accidental Prime Minister'– the controversial film on former Prime Minister of India Manmohan Singh has been released on Friday (Jan 11).

But, in Kolkata and Ludhiana, its screening has been restricted because of security reasons, amid protests shown by Youth Congress activists.

After screening for just 10 minutes on the inaugural day's first show, the screening of the film was cancelled near Central Kolkata's Chandni Chowk area.

This was followed by, afternoon screening of the film has been cancelled in the two cities.

The Congress returned to power in 2017 in Ludhiana, Congress activists staged massive protests outside the Pavilion Mall, that's why the multiplex authorities did not risk screening the controversial film.
