Taapsee Pannu will soon be seen playing cricket on the silver screen as she is geared up to play Mithali Raj, captain of India's women's cricket team, in her (Mithali) biopic.
Previously, Taapsee has essayed the role of a hockey player in Shaad Ali's Soorma, based on the life of Sandeep Singh, India's former captain.
Since Viacom18 had announced the project in 2017, it has generated a lot of interest.
"Taapsee has verbally agreed to do the film, but she is yet to sign the papers. Once a director comes on board, the formalities will be completed. As of now, the script is being developed," Mumbai Mirror wrote quoting a source.
It may be mentioned here that Mithali Raj is the highest run-scorer in international women's cricket, and the only women cricketer to surpass the 6,000-run mark in WODIs.
In June 2018, during the Women's Twenty20 Asia Cup, she became the leading run-getter for India (either male or female) in T20is.
Last week, Mithali completed 20 years in International Cricket.
