The Supreme Court on Monday refused to entertain a plea seeking cancellation of the certificate issued by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) to movie "Article 15". The court also asked the petitioner to approach the appropriate authority with their grievances.
A bench of justices S A Bobde and BRGavai said to the counsel appearing for the petitioner to go to the appropriateauthority under the act.
The Ayushman Khurana-starrer moviehad hit the screens on June 28 after which it had received many controversies.
The petitioner 'Brahman Samaj of India' had approached the top court seeking cancellation of the certificate issued to the movie alleging that there were objectionable dialogues that there spreading rumours and caste hatred in society.
The counsel withdrew the petitionwith the liberty to approach the authority concerned after the court said thepetitioner should approach the appropriate authority with their grievances.
The Bhim Army on June 30forcibly entered the cinema hall at Patna demanding screening of Article 15 andto stop screening of Kabir Singh and Bharat. They also threatened the hallowners that if they won't screen Article 15 then they will stop screening ofother films too.
On the other hand, inNagpur, the Brahmin community protested outside a movie theatre by hittingposters of the films with footwear and they feel that the name of the film wasnot appropriate.
