Oscar Academy to set office in Mumbai

Hollywood's Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences(AMPAS) which presents the prestigious Oscar Awards will open an office in Mumbai,which will be its third in the world. This was announced by the AMPAS PresidentJohn Bailey and his wife Carol Littleton on their visit to Agra on Monday.

Bailey talked to the media at the Yashwantrao Chavan Centrein Mumbai, in the presence of the State Cultural and Educational Minister VinodTawde and Principal Secretary, Cultural Affairs, Bhushan Gagrani. Tawdeproposed three key plans for the Academy – setting up an office of the AMPAS inMumbai, installing a bronze statue of Dadasaheb Phalke in the Academy'supcoming museum and increasing India's representation in Oscar's jury.

The AMPAS President also met UP Deputy Chief Minister DineshSharma and had an hour long meeting. After the meeting, the President said thatIndian films should be dubbed in English for exhibition in the West andHollywood films must be dubbed in Hindi too. They also discussed on how thefilm industry could be promoted in UP and the different ways to expand "knowledgeexchange".
