Pakistan: Two coal mine collapse; 18 dead

In a tragic incident, two coal mines had collapsed in southwestern Baluchistan province of Pakistan killing not less than 18 people. According to officials, a mine in Marwar area near provincial capital Quetta collapsed due to gas explosion trapping about two dozen miners inside.

Deputy Commissioner Quetta Farrukh Atique while speaking to PTI said that 16 people have died in the incident. Six workers who were trapped in rubble have been rescued, added Atique.

In another incident, at least nine miners were trapped in a mine of Pakistan Mineral Development Corporation near Quetta. According to reports, two dead bodies and two injured miners were recovered.
