Samsung to pay $539 million to Apple over patent infringement

Pratidin Bureau

Jurors at a federal court in California have ordered Samsung to pay an amount of $539 million in damages to Apple over patent infringement.

It may be mentioned here that the tech giants have been involved in legal battle over patents for the last seven years involving five patents with Android phones produced by Samsung.

Major portion of the damages was for infringing three Apple design patents, while the remaining was for two utility patents. Samsung was already found to have infringed on the patents.

Apple had originally sought $2.5 billion in damages and Samsung had argued to pay $28 million.
