Asian Games comes to an end; India finishes with best ever medal tally

Indonesia on Sunday bid adieu to the 18th Asian Games with a glittering closing ceremony on a rain-soaked evening at the Gelora Bung Karno Stadium in Jakarta.

The Games, being held in multiple cities for the first time – Jakarta and Palembang, saw India's best medal tally since the game's inception in 1951.

India ended their Asian Games 2018 campaign with the highest medal tally at the tournament ever, with a total of 69 medals which includes 15 gold, 24 silver and 30 bronze medals.

India thus surpassed their previous highest tally of 65 medals which they registered at the 2010 edition of Asiad in Guangzhou.

Here is the complete list of India's medal tally according to the respective disciplines in which India excelled-

ATHLETIC – Medals: 17 (7 gold, 10 silver and 2 medals)

SHOOTING – Medals: 10 (2 gold, 4 silver and 3 bronze medals)

ARCHERY – Medals: 2 (2 silver medals)

BADMINTON – Medals: 2 (1 silver and 1 bronze medals)

BOXING – Medals: 2 (1 gold and 1 bronze medals)

HOCKEY – Medals: 2 (1 silver and 1 bronze medals)

KABADDI – Medals: 2 (1 silver and 1 bronze medals)

ROWING – Medals: 3 (1 gold and 2 bronze medals)

SQUASH – Medals: 5 (1 silver and 4 bronze medals)

TENNIS – Medals: 3 (1 gold, 2 bronze medals)

BRIDGE – Medals: 3 (1 gold, and 2 bronze medals)

WRESTLING – Medals: 3 (2 gold, and 1 bronze medals)

EQUESTRIAN – Medals: 2 (2 silver medals)

MARTIAL ARTS – Medals: 6 (1 silver and 5 bronze medals)
