52 organisations stage protest against Citizenship Amendment Bill at Doomdooma

As many as 52 organisations came together to protest against the Citizenship Amendment Bill 2016 at Doomdooma on Sunday. Thousands of people participated in the protest that started around 12 noon.

"We shall never let this Bill to be implemented in Assam" the protesters said. "We shall continue our protests till the Bill is declared null and void" they added.

The mass protest was coordinated by Tinsukia district President of Asom Jatiyatabadi Yuba Chatra Parishad (AJYCP), where KMSS leader Akhil Gogoi was also present.

Akhil Gogoi has warned all 126 MLAs of Assam, saying "If the government does not take any step against the bill, let's gherao the residences of all the MLAs of our state".

It may be mentioned here that Assam has been continuously witnessing protests against the Citizenship Amendment Bill in the last few months.
