Uttar Pradesh Bar Council President Shot Dead

Darvesh Yadav, Uttar Pradesh (UP) Bar Council's first female president, on Wednesday was shot dead allegedly by a fellow advocate identified as Manish Sharma.

She was attending an event on the Agra district court premises. She was elected as bar council's president only on Monday.

Later, advocate Yadav's killer also shot himself and has been hospitalised in a critical condition.

Darvesh Yadav was shot three times while she was attending her welcome ceremony in the bar council chambers around 2:30 pm.

The motive behind Sharma's action is yet to be ascertained.

The Bar Council of India condemning the murder has demanded a minimum compensation of Rs. 50 lakh for advocate Yadav's family from the Uttar Pradesh government.
