Unlock 3.0: Covid Curbs Eases In Delhi | Key Highlights

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Sunday announced that as part of the phased unlock in the national capital all market activities will be permissible from Monday at 5 am along with certain restrictions.

We will observe this for one week. If cases increase, stricter restrictions will have to be reimposed, otherwise, it will be continued," said Kejriwal.

Highlights of the Unlock 3.0:
  • Kejriwal said that while weekly markets will resume activity, but only one market will open in one zone on a day.
  • Earlier shops were functioning in an odd-even format, however, all establishments will now be allowed to open between 10 am and 8 pm.
  • Restaurants will reopen but with 50% of the seating capacity.
  • The Delhi Metro and buses will continue to ply with 50% of the capacity.
  • In autos, e-rickshaws, or taxis, not more than 2 passengers allowed to ensure social distancing
  • Private offices will run on 50% capacity from 9 am to 5 pm. 
  • In govt offices, there will be 100% attendance of group A officers and 50% for the rest. Essential activities will continue.
  • Religious places to be opened but no visitors allowed.
  • Weddings not allowed in public places like banquet halls or hotels. Wedding ceremonies can be carried out only at court or homes with not more than 20 people and only 20 people allowed at funerals.

Meanwhile, the government has decided against reopening schools, colleges and other educational institutions.

All gyms, spas, yoga institute, cinema theatres, multiplexes and banquet halls will also continue to remain shut.

Sports complexes, swimming pools and stadiums have not been given a green signal yet.

Any gathering for social, political, academic or entertainment reasons is also not allowed. Cultural and religious festivals continue to be prohibited as well.

The Delhi government imposed a lockdown on April 19 at the peak of the second wave of COVID-19. After a continuous decline in daily coronavirus cases for several days, the Chief Minister announced that the national capital will begin to unlock from May 31 in a phased manner.

According to a health bulletin on Saturday, Delhi saw 213 fresh Covid cases with 0.3% positivity rate in the last 24 hours. Also, the number of deaths came down to 25.

There were 414 Covid-19 cases with 0.5% positivity rate and 60 fatalities last Saturday.
