UN could designate Masood Azhar as global terrorist

Pratidin Bureau

Amid rumours of his death, the chief of Pakistan based terrorist organisation Jaish-e-Mohammad, Masood Azhar could be declared as a global terrorist by the United Nation Security Council (UNSC) in the next week. The proposal of designating Azhar as a global terrorist was led by French and was backed by the US and UK.

It should be noted that, it will be the fourth time in the last 10 years, the UNSC committee would consider designating JeM chief Masood Azhar as a global terrorist.

If China doesn't block the proposal, the designation on Azhar as a global terrorist will force Pakistan to act against him. Azhar led JeM had claimed responsibility for the recent terror attack in Pulwama that took the lives of at least 40 CRPF jawans.
