Pratidin Bureau

An unidentified person shot at JNU Student Leader Umar Khalid near the Constitution Club, which is in the high security area of New Delhi.

Reportedly, the assailant dressed in white shirt and blue jeans opened fire on Umar Khalid, who was there to attend a function. However, Khalid was unhurt as he fell on the ground and bullets missed him.

The assailant was successful in escaping from the spot with his motor cycle.

The incident shook the entire national capital as not only the area is on high security but police protection was at the maximum due to the impending Independence Day.

The JNU student, shaken by the attack, blamed the far right elements for the attack as according to him, the left liberals all over the country have been triggered.
