Telangana Legislative Assembly dissolves

Pratidin Bureau

The Legislative Assembly of Telangana has been dissolved following a resolution on Thursday. Telangana Governor ESL Narasimhan asked Chief Minister Chandrasekhar and the Council of Ministers to continue as caretaker Government while accepting the Cabinet resolution seeking dissolution of the Assembly.

The resolution recommending the dissolution of the House was adopted at a meeting of the Cabinet chaired by Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao earlier on Thursday and was presented to the governor.

Speaking to the media, Caretaker CM Chandrasekhara Rao clearly stated that his party opted to go for fresh polls by dissolving the Assembly only to protect the interests of people and curb the increasing political fragility.

Rao said that the dissolution of the Assembly was necessary to protect the progress and development that are taking place in the state.

He exuded confidence that the election process will begin by next month and complete by November or along with the four states. He said the State Government is ready for election.

The TRS chief also announced party candidates for 105 out of 119 constituencies on the occasion. Except in two constituencies, all sitting MLAs got the ticket again.

KCR also announced a 15-member manifesto committee headed by K Keshav Rao.

Responding to questions over alliances, he said TRS party will remain as a secular party and will not have any alliance with BJP.
