Congress spokesperson Randeep Singh Surjewala on Wednesday said that Rahul Gandhi would continue to remain the party president.

He was interacting with the media after members of the core committee met informally to discuss the coming Assembly elections in Jharkhand, Maharashtra, Haryana and Jammu and Kashmir.

Surejwala also informed that that the Congress Core Committee has been dissolved after the rout in the Lok Sabha elections.

It may be mentioned here that Rahul Gandhi after the Congress' defeat in the Lok Sabha polls wanted to give up the presidency. However, he did not attend the meeting. UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi also skipped the meeting.
