Priyanka Gandhi Stopped from visiting Sonbhadra

Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, the Congress general secretary in-charge of Uttar Pradesh, was detained by the Uttar Pradesh police in Mirzapur on Friday. She was on her way to Sonbhardra to meet the families of victims of the people killed in a land dispute.

 She sat on a 'dharna'in Nayanpur area of Uttar Pradesh when the police sprang into action and movedher from the protest site.

The Congress General Secretary was on her way to meetvictims of a firing case in Sonbhadra where section 144 has been imposed."I don't know where are they taking me, we are ready to go anywhere,"Priyanka said.

In no mood to relent, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra said, "we stillwon't be cowed down. We were only going peacefully to meet victim families ofSonbhadra (firing case).

In an incident in Sonbhadra, around 10 people were killedafter a man opened fire on them over a land dispute.

It has been reported that a village head and his supportersopened fire on a rival group over a land dispute in Ghorowal police stationarea where 10 people have been killed including three women and leaving 19injured on Wednesday.

The dead people were said to belong from the Gond tribe.
