Pragya sacked from defence panel

A day after the MP Pragya Singh Thakur made remarks on Mahatma Gandhi's assassin Nathuram Godse in Parliament, the BJP has prohibited her from attending all Parliamentary Party meetings for the rest of the winter session. The party has also dropped her from the parliamentary panel of the Consultative Committee of the Defence Ministry.

Reacting to her statement,BJP working president JP Nadda said, "The statement given by Pragya SinghThakur on Wednesday in Parliament is condemnable and BJP never supports suchstatement or ideology. She has been expelled from Consultative Committee onDefence and also she will not be allowed in Party's Parliamentary Partymeetings for the session."

It may be mentioned herethat during the debate in the Lok Sabha on Special Protection Group (Amendment)Bill, 2019, DMK member A Raja said that Godse nursed a grudge against MahatmaGandhi for over three decades. Following which, the MP Thakur interjected witha remark purportedly in praise of Godse. LS speaker Om Birla expunged herremark from the record. However, later Om Birla expunged Thakur's remark fromthe record.
