“NRC and CAA violate India’s secular tradition” – Joe Biden

Pratidin Bureau

Expressing disappointment over Assam's NRC, CAA and the rights of Kashmiris, former Vice President of the USA and current Democratic presidential nominee, Joe Biden said that "these measures are inconsistent with the country's long tradition of secularism and with sustaining a multi-ethnic and multi-religious democracy." He wanted New Delhi to take measures to restore rights of the Kashmiris.

PTI reported Biden passing the remark in the policy paper of 'Biden's agenda for Muslim American community.' However, a group of Hindu Americans have reportedly expressed their displeasure over Biden's remarks and the language used by him. They have, as reported, urged the Biden campaign to reconsider their views.

The policy paper, having a strong political undertone, highlights Biden's understanding of the 'pain' of the Muslim Americans towards the plight of fellow Muslims in Kashmir, Western China, Assam and Myanmar.
