Navy launches guided missile destroyer ‘Imphal’

Pratidin Bureau

In yet another achievement, the Indian Navy has launched a guided missile destroyer named 'Imphal' at Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders in Mumbai on Saturday.

It is a ship built to carry and operate two multiple role helicopters and Imphal is the third ship to be launched under this project.

The Navy in an official statement said that shaping of hull and use of radar transparent deck fittings has helped in enhancing stealth features, which make the ships difficult to detect.

Expressing satisfaction with the force's fleet, Navy Chief Admiral Sunil Lanba said that more aircraft and submarines will be inducted in the days to come.
