Memorial likely for Vajpayee

The government has decided to set up a memorial for former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, according to sources.

In order 'to mark his immense contributions to the country' the Narendra Modi led government has decided to build a memorial for the erstwhile PM.

Supporting the cause, a senior government official said that Atalji was a leader of extraordinary stature and something ought to be done in his honour.

According to speculations, a part of smriti sthal itself had been proposed for carving out a memorial, but it has not yet been confirmed.

Former PM Narsimha Rao was the first leader to get a "samadhi" (resting) place in 2015, though his family had to wait for 10 years.
