Pratidin Bureau

In another instance pertaining to alleged 'Model Code of Conduct' violation, tea cups labelled with 'Main Bhi Chowkidar', being used to serve tea in trains have sparked controversy.

The tea cups were sighted by a former ADG at All India Radio D.N. Mohanty while travelling in the New Delhi Katgodam Express, Train no 12040, on Friday morning.

However now, the Railways has withdrawn the aforementioned paper tea cups.

Although Railways decision only came after various media houses started reporting on it.

Issuing a statement the Indian Railways Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) said that the contractor had not sought prior permission for printing advertisements on cups from it.

IRCTC said, it has issued show cause notice to the contractor and imposed a fine of one lakh rupees. It said, lapses were overlooked by the onboard supervisory staff and explanation has been called for carelessness.
