Maha Kumbh begins tomorrow

The Maha Kumbh Mela  will commence from tomorrow  with the Shahi Snan of Akharas at Prayagraj in Uttar Pradesh . All arrangements have been made for the 55 day grand event  event will conclude on March 4.

Devotees from not just India but all over the world have flocked to be a part of the mega event and to take a holy dip in Ganga, Yamuna and Saraswati rivers at Sangam.

Makar Sankranti, Paush Purnima, Mauni Amavasya, Basant Panchami, Maghi Purnima and Mahashivratri are some of the other rituals performed at the Maha Kumbh.

Security measures have been  tightened by the government. Doordarshan and All India Radio (AIR) will broadcast he event live.

For the first time, all the programmes will be streamed live on YouTube from Kumbhvani by AIR.

The Kumbh Mela is considered as the "world's largest congregation of religious pilgrims" and is the largest peaceful gatherings in the world. It is also inscribed on the UNESCO's Representative List of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
