Karunanidhi “Extremely Critical And Unstable”: Kauvery Hospital

Pratidin Bureau

A day after DMK patriarch M Karunanidhi's health worsened, a hospital in Chennai has said that his condition is  "extremely critical and unstable".

There had been a "significant decline" in the condition of Karunanidhi, 94, over the last few hours and his vitals were deteriorating "despite maximum medical support", said the Kauvery hospital, where the five-time chief minister was admitted on July 28.

A huge crowd of DMK workers and supporters has gathered outside the hospital.

The crowd raised slogans like "Ezhundhu Vaa Thalaivaa" (Awake, our leader) and "Vaa, Vaa, Gopalapuram Polaam Vaa" (Come, Come, let"s go to Gopalapuram).

A party leader waiting outside the hospital said that they want to hear the good news about their leader's health which is why they are there.

The crowd started to swell after the medical bulletin from the hospital on Monday evening said that Karunanidhi"s condition had deteriorated and maintaining his vital signs had become a challenge.
