J&K Reorganisation Bill to be tabled in LS today

The Union Government is all set to move the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganisation Bill 2019 for consideration and passage in Lok Sabha (LS) today.

Simultaneously, the Jammu and Kashmir Reservation (Second Amendment) Bill 2019, which includes provisions of 10 per cent reservation for Economically Weaker Sections among the general category, will be taken up in LS today.

On Monday, Rajya Sabha adopted resolutions to scrap Article 370 and Article 35A in Jammu and Kashmir and also passed the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganization Bill, 2019 by voice vote.

The Bill seeks to make Jammu and Kashmir a Union Territory with a legislature and Ladakh, a Union Territory without legislature.
